Chinese New Year is coming! After a busy year working, have you gained much? Maybe you are planning to go home and reunite with your family for the holidays? Limelight Studio wishes you all a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year! Here we will show you the McDonald’s Chinese New Year Campaign photos we shot.

Here are the photos we shot for McDonald’s Special Chinese New Year Set. We took out the scarlet cloth, which we rarely use, for the shooting background. The cloth provides a warm, happy New Year atmosphere in this cold winter month of February.

Blue Frog Creamy Salmon Linguini Video 本月视频之星: 蓝蛙小厨 冬季篇

Continuing our cooking show in collaboration with Blue Frog - this time we visited the freshly-opened venue at Super Brand Mall, Lujiazui.

Manager Yan showed us around the classy restaurant, which was bustling at the height of lunch time. Later we went back with Chef Mike to the Blue Frog kitchen where he showed us how to cook the Creamy Salmon Linguini.

Technically, we tried to do some things differently from the last two cooking show videos. We rigged a dolly in the studio to give some subtle motion to the front-on shot. This made the feel less static and provided a bit more connection to Chef Mike while he was talking.

It was a challenge to keep the dolly steady and quiet with the slow movements we wanted to do, but it turned out to be a look they liked in the end.

继续我们的蓝蛙厨师系列——这次我们造访了蓝蛙陆家嘴正大广场店。

餐厅经理Yan带领我们参观了漂亮的新店店址。之后我们和主厨Mike一起回到蓝蛙餐厅厨房开始我们的美味烹饪。

实际上,我们想拍摄出不同于上两次的感觉,所以利用轨道进行拍摄以此获得更加稳定的拍摄效果。这样也使得主厨Mike有更加自然的表现。

对于轨道拍摄有一点小小的挑战,因为很难控制力道保持匀速但最后的结果确是十分令人惊喜的。

El Willy Lobster Ceviche El Willy-龙虾酸橘汁腌鱼

Continuing our series of short and simple videos with some of Shanghai’s most famous chefs, we this time got yet another chef-heavyweight – Willy Trullas Moreno aka. El Willy.

His restaurants has emerged to become a staple on the food scene in Shanghai, and with El Willy relocating to Bund 22, and opening Elefante on Donghu Rd, El Coctel and Bikini on Yongfu Rd, and Fofo by El Willy in Hong Kong – Willy keeps proving his skills as a chef and business man.

The charismatic spaniol and his crew chose a lovely Ceviche, made with live Boston lobster and Leche De Tigre. This dish was inspired from a trip Willy had to South America, and while normally Ceviche is simply raw fish cooked in lime juice, this ceviche is a bit more fun and flavourful. This shows well that Willy’s  style of cooking is contemporary and fun compared to other traditional tapas restaurants.

We spent about half a day shooting with the crew in their small and lively kitchen. Lighting was a huge challenge because of the small space, but we managed to work around it without annoying the kitchen staff too much.

For post production we really looked into the style of El Willy to do something that fits the image – therefore going for colorful and playful graphics, paired with a song from the spanish film ”Mujeres al Borde de un Ataque de Nervios”, which is being referenced in El Willy’s latest menu.

又到了在博客上展示上海一系列知名厨师博文的时候了,这一次要向大家介绍的是另一位重量级的厨师,即为知名西班牙餐厅El Willy的主厨——Willy Trullas Moreno

他所经营的餐厅已经渐渐在竞争激烈的上海餐饮业里占有一席之地,随着El Willy改迁到外滩22号,东湖路上的Elefante和永福路上的El Coctel和Bikini,另外还有至香港开设的Fofo餐厅等不同风格的餐厅纷纷开业,Willy不断地证明自己不仅仅是一位具有天赋的厨师,更是一位成功的企业家。

这位极具超凡魅力的西班牙人和他的团队邀请Limelight Studio拍摄这道令人垂涎欲滴的料理:波士顿龙虾酸橘汁腌鱼——以新鲜的波士顿龙虾和俗称Tigers milk做的料理。这道佳肴是Willy去南美旅行时受启发所创。虽然通常情况下酸橘汁腌鱼仅仅是把鱼切成薄片后浸入青柠汁,但由El Willy所开创的这道酸橘汁腌鱼则又多了一点与众不同的风味。同时也显露出相比其它传统西班牙式小餐馆,Willy的烹饪风格是充满现代感而又富有情趣

我们大约花了半天时间拍摄了这段影片,在他们窄小而充满活力的厨房里,拍摄节奏十分紧凑,需要做到面面俱到,而对于我们来说灯光的设置是一个比较严峻的挑战,因为空间十分狭小且不能打扰其他厨师正常工作。但是最终我们还是解决了这一难题。

在后期制作中,我们认真的去研究了El Willy的个人风格,并且尝试做了一些适合画面感觉的效果,因此我们加上了一些丰富多彩幽默生动的图形,配乐的选择上则用了西班牙的经典电影“崩溃边缘的女人”里的一首歌,且电影中的元素也被引用到El Willy最新的餐单上。

WHAT: Morning Breakfast Promotional Shot: McMuffin

WHEN: January 2010 - This post marks the 4-year anniversary of this shot!

WHERE: Limelight Studio, Xizang Rd.

WHY: This was Limelight Studio’s first job with McDonald's as well as their first big product campaign shot. There were four product shots that took until four o’clock in the morning to complete!

HOW: For this shot, a mixture of tungsten and flash was used to keep the lighting consistent. What made this shot difficult were all the additional items that were involved in the image such as the wheat and eggs. The challenge was adding them without making the shot too congested or messy because then the eye wouldn’t know where to look. Therefore, finding a perfect balance where the props were beneficial to the image was essential.

FUN FACT: One of the lights we used for part of this shot was an every day flashlight/torch just to give a slight extra fill to the McMuffin.

拍摄缘由:这是Limelight Studio第一次为麦当劳拍摄也是我们第一次大型产品宣传拍摄。难度可想而知,因为共需要拍摄四组照片以至于到凌晨四点才收工。

拍摄方法:拍摄这张照片时,运用了造型灯和闪光相结合的方式来达到光线一致的效果。这样光线不会显得太突兀,而拍摄中十分困难的是需要每一被摄体都入镜例如小麦和鸡蛋等。而最大的挑战莫过于他们的摆放问题因为不想造成拥挤和混乱的画面感,因此找到一个完美的平衡是十分必要的。

拍摄花絮:我们用了一个手电筒作为一盏补光使麦满分达到更理想的视觉效果。

WHAT: Cocktail with surrounding drinks and bottles

WHEN:  August 2009

WHERE: Blue Frog Bar & Grill, Xujiahui venue

WHY: Blue Frog wanted photographs of their food and beverages for in-store, menu, and online advertisement

HOW: For this image, product placement was crucial. The color and shape of each bottle and drink was very important to create the right atmosphere for the product. Originally, there was a frosty white bottle in the background where the blue Sky vodka bottle is. The seemingly obvious decision to switch the bottle was made for the better mix of colors, overall feel of the photograph, as well as the color tying in nicely with the name of the restaurant. As an additional plus, we realized that SKYY Vodka is one of the main vodka suppliers to Blue Frog.

To highlight the cocktail, we used one light for the overhead as well as another to add an extra emphasis on the Blue Frog design. Various grids were used to light the surrounding bottles and scrim to bounce the exuding light back into frame.

FUN FACT This was Justin’s very first shoot with Scott and Limelight Studio, and ended up holding a large scrim overhead for the better part of two hours.

拍摄缘由:蓝蛙酒吧邀请Limelight Studio为他们拍摄食物和饮料的照片,用于店内装饰,菜单以及线上广告

拍摄方法:对于这张照片,蓝蛙产品的位置摆放十分重要。玻璃瓶及饮料的颜色形状对于烘托主体气氛起着关键性的作用。起初,在蓝色伏特加酒瓶位置有一只白色冷杯。然而蓝色伏特加酒瓶有更好的颜色混合度,并能增加整张照片的感觉,因此我们决定将冷杯更换成蓝色酒瓶。除此之外,选择SKYY伏特加是因为它是蓝蛙酒吧的主要伏特加品牌供应商之一,而且蓝色和蓝蛙酒吧的“蓝”字有很好的呼应效果。

为了突出鸡尾酒,我们在顶上用了一盏灯加上一块反光板通透光线,同时又用了另外一盏灯打在蓝蛙玻璃杯上。灯光加上不同的蜂巢用来点亮周围的瓶子,而反光板的运用使光线反射进相机取景器。

拍摄花絮:这时Justin第一次跟随Limelight Studio拍摄,他尽职尽责地在全程拍摄中一直拿着若光布,值得褒奖。
